If the vehicle is returned with no damage or extra fees (fuel top ups, missing items etc) then we will refund this security bond to you.
If you would like to reduce the Liability then we offer two additional Insurance Packages being Silver Cover and Platinum Cover. The higher the Insurance Cover, the more inclusions for peace of mind.
Please refer to our Liability Reduction table for the features and benefits of different Insurance Cover options.
Worth noting that RAC Roadside Assistance is a free option to all customers and is free.
Please visit our Liability Reduction page for this information. Please contact us if you have any questions.
What if I need Roadside assistance?
24/7 Roadside assist is provided by RAC and its interstate affiliates and is included with your rental at no extra cost.
Please note:
Roadside assistance is not available in many remote Australian locations (including the Simpson Desert, Fraser Island & Moreton Island).
If roadside assistance is not available in the area you are operating, you must pay for the cost or towing or recovery regardless of the cause of the breakdown.
What is considered fair wear & tear?
Please visit our fair wear and tear page for a detailed explanation. Please contact us if you still have questions about this.

All camper types are self sufficient for off grid travel.

Are there extra charging points for my tech?
Yes.
All vehicles have an independent battery system with additional USB charging points in the canopy or camper along with either a Redarc or Enerdrive 2000W invertor providing 240v power supply.
What happens if there is a fault with the Vehicle?
We operate late-model, low kilometer vehicles and maintain them to a higher standard than that recommended by the manufacturer.
However sometimes faults can develop, even in modern, well maintained vehicles. Particularly when operating in off-road or rough conditions.
If you need roadside assistance, please contact RAC on 13 11 11 and quote the vehicle registration number. Issues such as flat batteries, flat tyres or low fuel will be rectified by RAC and there will be no need to notify us.
If RAC cannot rectify the problem, they will contact us and we will work with them and you to get the vehicle to a repairer to have the fault diagnosed and repaired.
If the vehicle cannot be repaired in a timely manner, we will attempt to provide you with a substitute vehicle, subject to availability and your location.
Some things to keep in mind, particularly if you are operating in remote areas.
The more remote you operate the vehicle, the less resources are available. Getting assistance to you, rectifying faults or obtaining parts in remote parts of Australia will likely take significant time and in some cases may take days.
- Due to the vast distances in Australia, it may also not always be viable or possible to swap you into a substitute vehicle if the vehicle you are using develops a fault. Whilst we will always consider this, we cannot guarantee this option.
- Roadside assistance is not available everywhere. If you take our vehicle to an area where our Roadside Assist is not available, you will be required to pay for the cost of transporting the vehicle to the nearest RAC depot or repairer (regardless of fault).
Many remote locations are not covered by Roadside Assistance.
Whilst we understand that a fault may lead to some delay and inconvenience, Adventure West 4×4 Rentals does not pay compensation for missed flights, inconvenience or other loss suffered.
We strongly encourage all hirers to take out travel insurance to cover this instance.
What happens if there is a Fault with the Camping equipment?
We preform comprehensive quality control checks on our vehicles and equipment prior to every rental. However sometimes unexpected faults can develop, particularly when the vehicle is operating in off-road or rough conditions.
If a fault develops in the camping equipment and it will not cause too much inconvenience, we will likely just take a note and have it rectified when you return.
If a fault develops that will cause you inconvenience, we will have to work together to find a solution. For example we may:
- (depending on your level of technical skill) work with you on the phone to see if you can undertake repairs yourself;
- ask you to purchase a similar, replacement item and then reimburse you for the cost; or
- find a local repairer and ask you to take the vehicle to them.
We understand that this may delay your journey however these steps will be necessary in order to rectify the fault.
Please contact us immediately if you have any problems with your vehicle or accessories.
Can I Tow a trailer or caravan?
No. Unfortunately our vehicles are not equipped to tow.
Where is the best place to camp?
Australia has many free and paid camping options, from remote far-away camp sites to boutique caravan and camping parks such as El-Questro Station in W.A.
Camping in National Parks is popular. You will need to book and often a Vehicle permit is also required. Here is a list of State and Territory National Park websites:
Western Australia Parks – Click HERE
Northern Territory Parks – Click HERE
Queensland Parks – Click HERE
We highly recommend the AU WikiCamp app. This app lists hundreds free and paid camp grounds and contains up-to-date reviews from campers who have recently camped at each of the sites.
When is the best time to visit?
Australia is beautiful all year round however the most popular time in the north is during the dry season between May and September. South West Australia (Perth) and beautiful during summer, December to March.
Why not ask our experienced team to help you plan your Australian 4WD adventure?
What about the wildlife?
We know that Australian wildlife has a particular reputation, however most visitors quickly learn there is nothing really to worry about. Encounters with snakes, spiders, sharks and all of the other notorious creatures shown on the internet are actually extremely rare.
This being so, it is important to always follow safety directions and signage wherever posted, particularly with regard to crocodiles in the top end.
How safe are your vehicles for remote outback travel?
Our vehicles are set-up for remote, long distance travel. They are fitted with premium quality heavy duty accessories and equipment from some of Australia’s leading 4WD brands and are maintained beyond the manufacturers specifications.
If you are travelling to very remote areas, any of our fleet will be suitable as they are specifically set-up for safe and comfortable remote travel and has additional safety features such as a long range fuel tank, emergency satellite beacon and more.
Contact us if you would like assistance planning an outback adventure and/or need a local contact on the ground who can help you with local knowledge.

Alexander Fuhr2025-03-17Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We used Adventure West for a 12 day road trip from Perth to Exmouth, and I’m so glad we did. The whole process with adventure west was seamless and great. Starting with the booking request, the communication with Gino was always quick and insightful, putting together a quote for our trip. Gino even helped build out our itinerary which was amazing. Once we arrived at adventure west to pick up the vehicle the great experience continued. Gino gave us an extremely thorough walk around the car and explained how everything worked, making sure we were all set up for the adventure ahead. The car itself was an absolute beast! I have never had so much fun driving a vehicle, and it can handle anything you throw at it. The camping set up from the car is also top notch, it has everything you need and more. You literally just need to bring your clothes and that’s it, the car has everything else. Gino was even so kind to provide a food hamper so we were covered for the first few days. Adventure west really went above and beyond during our trip with customer service, which made me so glad I chose them. In the middle of our trip our car experienced a slight electrical issue where the battery for the fridge etc was not charging as quickly anymore (which of course can always happen). Without asking any questions, Gino drove 8 hours from Perth on his weekend time to deliver us a new car on the same day the issue happened to ensure we could continue our trip hassle free. It was some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. The trip was even better than I was expecting, and when I return to WA I will not look anywhere else but adventure west for vehicle rental. Also a big big thank you to Gino for his great supper and customer service, it was really appreciated!! Thank you Gino + Adventure West team for a trip of a lifetime!! Natalie Stairs2025-02-27Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a brilliant experience with Gino at Adventure West 4x4 Rentals. We hired Wombat for a 10 day trip to Exmouth which allowed us to explore some of the most beautiful areas of the west coast. Wombat was equipped with everything we could possibly need for the trip- all we needed was our luggage which made it so stress-free. Gino even gave us a food hamper to get us started so we didn’t have to worry about a food shop on our first day. Gino was so kind and gave us a thorough tour of the Ute and everything we needed to know before we left. He was so helpful when we called him with some minor queries about Wombat whilst we were on the road. In terms of the Ute, everything was so easy to use- the rooftop tents were brilliant and so comfortable. It was so easy to go off-road and access remote locations with the built in air compressor. The awning was much needed providing us with shade wherever we went. All the drawers and built-in housing were well thought out and maximised all the space. We would highly recommend using Adventure West 4x4 Rentals and we will definitely be using them again the next time we are in WA. Thanks Gino! Gillian Cotter2025-02-20Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My friends were visiting from overseas and their WA trip was made truly unforgettable thanks to the fantastic 4x4 rental experience with Adventure West 4x4. The company provided a great setup, and the vehicle we received was perfect – everything we needed for our adventure. A special shout-out to Gino, who was incredibly helpful and made the whole process smooth and easy. Highly recommend this company for anyone looking to explore the rugged beauty of Western Australia in a reliable and well-maintained 4x4! I would say the nespresso machine was a game changer for the road trip coffee! anka sagasser2025-01-17Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Maarten Bos2025-01-15Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My experience with 4X4 Adventure West was amazing. I am currently traveling Australia for a year and my parents and sister came by to visit me. We rented a Ford Ranger with two rooftop tents at 4x4 Adventure West to do a 2,5 week roadtrip through South-West Australia. Communication prior to picking up the car was smooth and very friendly. When picking up the car, everything was explained perfectly in detail. We were able to leave some of our stuff we didn’t need during our roadtrip at the office, which was great. The Ford Ranger was brand new, as well as all the equipment that came with it. They didn’t budget on the quality of the equipment, everything was very high quality. They preloaded the fridge and storage with lots of food, drinks and basic utilities so we didn’t have to go to the supermarket first thing after leaving. The car was very comfortable and preformed perfectly during the 2,5 week roadtrip. We did a lot of beach driving and off-roading, the car didn’t struggle once. Overall the guys were really nice, friendly and helpful. The car was really great and we had an amazing road trip. Great side note: when bringing back the car, I mentioned to one of the owners (Dan) that I was going to be looking to buy a 4x4 myself, to travel Australia (due to the great experience we had with the Ford Ranger). Dan immediately offered to help me search for one (as I didn’t have a lot of experience with buying 4x4’s). Over the next days, I called with Dan and we texted a lot back and forth helping me to find a car. He helped me entirely on his own initiative, purely out of kindness. He didn’t have to do it at all, but he chose to anyway. Just a great guy! My parents will probably come back to rent a 4x4 again to go up to Broome as they will be offering one-way renting too. Would very much recommend 4x4 Adventure West. Eoin Geary2025-01-08Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Absolutely excellent! Can’t recommend AdventureWest highly enough and will definitely book when we visit Australia again. From the outset dealing with Gino and Dan has been so easy. The guys care about the customers and it shows with their responsiveness, attention to detail and how well the 4x4 campers are kitted out. We were given ‘Wombat’ a Ford Ranger, with Dual Roof Top Tents, which was only a couple months old and I have to say was one of the most comfortable 4x4s to drive in with 3 kids especially given how we did close to 1800kms in it. We went from Perth to Banksia Camp down south and did a bit of off-roading, never once did I feel that the ranger couldn’t handle the terrain - excellent machine! You have everything you need (BBQ, fridge, gas stove, Nespresso machine, sleeping bags, pillows, towels, outdoor chairs & tables, 270degree awning, plenty of lights upstairs and down, CB radio, emergency beacon, compressor, GPS etc. etc.) to live comfortably & safely in the wilderness of WA. The guys have thought of everything and given this was our first camp out in Australia we didn’t have the stress of wondering if we forgot anything. We especially loved the very thoughtful food package - pancakes for breakfast was a real treat. We never had any issues and when did have a question Gino was very quick to respond. We’ve now caught the off-the-grid camping bug thanks to Adventure West - thanks Gino & Dan for a great experience! Daniel Gallagher2025-01-06Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My girlfriend and I had the incredible opportunity to take off on a short 4 day holiday with an Adventure West 4x4 Rental, exploring WA’s beautiful Margaret River wine region and South West Coast. It was truly an experience we’ll never forget! These vehicles are amazing. Everything is top of the range. You can see the thought and attention to detail that has gone into putting these setups together. No corners cut and no expenses spared. Pickup and drop off was easy. Gino our hire guide was incredibly friendly, and always happy to answer our questions. After experiencing the comfort and luxury of these 4WDs, it’s going to be tough for us to go back to traveling in any other way! We highly recommend Adventure West 4x4 Rentals for anyone looking to explore the beauty of Western Australia. vera hoogland2024-12-01Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had an amazing experience hiring our car here. The car comes completely equipped with high quality gear and a comfortable tent and blankets. The staff is very friendly and is always available to help 24/7, and even have us a lift back to the airport after returning the car. We would definitely come back and rent again at this place, and would recommend it to everyone who is ready to go for an adventure in WA. kurt Oldham2024-10-29Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Recently booked a holiday to Perth WA as I wanted to explore more of Australia with my son. After landing in Perth it was a short trip to Adventure West 4x4 to pick up the vehicle. I was very surprised with how well the 4x4 was fitted out with everything. There was plenty of room for suitcases and food supplies for a long trip. We set off heading North stopping at all the attractions and set up camp anywhere we wanted. The set up literarily took 5 minutes! The cooking facilities were easily accessible and were suitable for any cooking of food. We did a lot of sand driving which meant lowering tyre pressures. This was made easy for the 4x4 as was equipped with an onboard compressor. Some places we got to see were so remote, we would never have seen them without a 4x4. The 4x4 was so well equipped and reliable we were able to go anywhere and do anything. The only downfall was my trip was not long enough! I will be going back next year for a longer time to explore more of the west coast of Australia, especially in one of these Adventure West 4x4's. I highly recommend Adventure West 4x4 Rentals for anyone wanting to travel and explore remote destinations.
